The second phase of the Big Change Start Small, childhood obesity campaign launched in May 2017. The campaign started in 2015 and it was one of 22 initiatives in the childhood obesity plan. Big Change Starts Small aims to challenge people’s attitudes towards childhood obesity. This round of the campaign adds a layer of tools and resources to help health professionals and intermediaries to provide practical solutions regarding healthy eating and activity.
The television commercials (TVCs) are fronted by Olympian Dame Valerie Adams and include a number of sport stars like former Silver Fern Captain Casey Kopua, All Black Israel Dagg, former Black Cap skipper Brendon McCullum and Warriors star Shaun Johnson. The TVCs will play from 14 May – 30 June 2017. It is supported by a website that offers nutritious and affordable meal ideas and ways to become more active as a family www.eatmovelive.govt.nz . As well as TV, the campaign will also play across radio, online and social media channels.
